A Yoke will exist because of: Brainwashing,
Mind Control, False doctrine or False Teaching, Oppression,
Intimidation, Shame, or ignorance of the word of God.
Yoke - To join
securely; to bind: partners who were yoked together for life. To
force into heavy labor, bondage, or subjugation.
sub·ju·gation
means: To bring under control; to
conquer. To defeat. To enslave
Bondage means -
The state of one who is bound as a slave.
A state of
subjection to a force, power, or influence.
The devil wants
you to be enslaved in the yoke of bondage. Here’s the first example
that the bible teaches us about the yoke of bondage. Go to Genesis
3:1
1 Now the serpent was more
subtil (change that word subtil to crafty because that’s what it
means) than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And
he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of
every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the
serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree
which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall
not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Here’s the trick of the enemy holding the
yoke in his hand and saying put it on.
4 And the serpent said unto the
woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the
day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be
as gods, knowing good and evil.
Now he’s brain washing her with false
teaching and false doctrine. He’s telling Eve that she will be just
like God if she eats the forbidden fruit. Just because it sounds
good do you except it? Or just because it feels right will you do
it. That’s really what it boils down to.
6 And when the woman saw that
the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant
to the eyes, (it looked good to her) and a tree to be desired to
make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,
and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
So the devil killed 2 birds with 1 stone.
He got 2 necks in one yoke steering them in the direction that he
wanted them to go. He didn’t force them to do it they had a choice
and did it on their own. And when they did it, they were placed in
the bondage of sin. That’s what we call the fall of man.
Now, the reason
they use the term yoke is because a yoke is a wooden frame placed
over the neck to join 2 animals. One place is for one animal and
the other place is for the other animal. What happens is the
stronger animal pulls harder than the weaker one. Ask yourself, who
has more biblical knowledge you or the devil? I’m not giving him
glory because he is a defeated enemy, I’m just saying that he’s a
tricky guy. Don’t get yourself in a position to allow him to steer
you in whatever direction he wants to because you placed your neck
in a yoke with him. Go to Galatians 5:1 I’m going to show you how
the Bible warns us about the yoke of bondage. Highlight this verse,
get it in your spirit and meditate on it. I want everyone to
remember this verse during this teaching on The Yoke of Bondage.
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the
liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled
again with a yoke of bondage.
This verse is simply saying that Jesus Christ
died on the cross for your sins and made you free so don’t go back
to being lead the wrong way. Stay free from bondage.
You should also
remember how terrible hell is so that you can avoid the yoke of
bondage. Let me remind you of how terrible hell is? Go to
Matt 13:37-43. We’re talking about the
yoke of bondage. We’re talking about being set free from it too.
Matt 13:37-43
37 He answered and said unto
them, He that soweth the good seed is
the Son of man;
38 The field is the world; the
good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the
children of the wicked one;
39 The enemy that sowed them is
the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are
the angels.
40 As therefore the tares are
gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this
world.
41 The Son of man shall send
forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all
things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42 And shall cast them into a
furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Let’s talk about the words wailing and
gnashing of the teach.
Jesus is saying that you’re going to know
that you’re in hell and this place is no joke! The word wailing in
the dictionary means; A long, loud, high-pitched cry, as of grief or
pain.
A long, loud, high-pitched sound: the wail
of a siren. That’s very painful especially when your gnashing your
teeth together. That is very unbearable! Don’t risk being in
bondage and reflect back at your life before you were saved and take
notice of the stronghold the devil had on your life. He had a yoke
around your neck steering you in the wrong direction. Wailing
and gnashing of teeth.
It’s like allowing a doctor to perform
major surgery on you without putting you to sleep. That would be
very painful.
We need to know
how to be free from bondage and from yokes.
We really do it
to ourselves. We really put on the yoke of bondage around our own
lives. EVERYONE is guilty of this. Go to
Luke 10:17-19
17 And the seventy returned
again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us
through thy name.
18 And he said unto them,
I beheld Satan as lightning fall from
heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power
to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the
enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
So that tells me that we put the yoke on
ourselves. We have the power to avoid the yoke because the devils
are under our control through Jesus Christ and they can’t hurt you
unless you allow them to. How do we allow them? Through sin and
sin separates us from God.
Who wants to be free today? Who really
want to be free today? Prayer is a big part of you being free from
the yoke of bondage. Remember that. You HAVE to pray and speak the
word over your situation. When you’re weak and want to give in and
you see the yoke coming on. Pray and ask God to give you strength.
We should be praying in this church more. The yoke of bondage shows
the lack of prayer. Because prayer is the most powerful spiritual
warfare weapon that we have. You take away the weapon, you are
defenseless against your enemy. How many of you honestly pray over
every situation? By a show of hands. How many of you would go to a
war in Iraq without a weapon? That’s exactly what you’re doing when
you don’t pray. You’re in a spiritual war and you have the greatest
weapon at your fingertips. But you have to use it. It’s called
prayer. Hosea 4:6 says My people are destroyed for lack of
knowledge: Study your word and gain knowledge so that you won’t be
destroyed.
Destroying The Yoke
1. The Anointing
destroy’s the yoke
Isaiah 10:27
27 And it shall come to pass in
that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy
shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be
destroyed because of the anointing.
How do we become anointed? We become
anointed the day we receive Christ as our personal savior.
The word Christ means: Anointed, the Greek
translation of the Hebrew word rendered "Messiah" The word
Anointing under the Vines Expository Dictionary says that believers
have an anointing from the Holy One, which indicates that this
anointing renders them Holy, separating them to God. There are
different levels of anointing but you are anointed and according to
what we just read in Isaiah 10:27, your yoke can be destroyed.
2. Submit and allow Jesus to transform
your mind and that will destroy the yoke.
Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this
world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye
may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God.
Let’s look at the word transform, it
means: To change the nature, function, or condition of;
convert or a metamorphosis.
Let me explain
what a metamorphosis is: It’s a complete change! (explain about
the butterfly and caterpillar)
3. Again, Jesus destroy’s the yoke.
Heb 2:14-18
14 Forasmuch then as the
children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise
took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that
had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through
fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on
him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of
Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it
behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might
be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining
to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath
suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
The only yoke you want to wear.
Matt 11:25-30
25 At that time Jesus answered
and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because
thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast
revealed them unto babes.
26 Even so, Father: for so it
seemed good in thy sight.
27 All things are delivered
unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father;
neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to
whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
28 Come unto me, all ye
that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and
learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find
rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy,
and my burden is light.
4. Stand with
Jesus and the yoke will be broken.
Gal 5:1-6
1 Stand fast therefore in the
liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled
again with the yoke of bondage.
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you,
that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every
man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect
unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen
from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit
wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither
circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which
worketh by love.
Romans 8:1-21
1 There is
therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who
walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of
life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and
death.
3 For what the law could not
do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son
in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the
flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the
law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but
after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the
flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the
Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded
is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is
enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither
indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the
flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh,
but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now
if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in
you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is
life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him
that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up
Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his
Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are
debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the
flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the
deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by
the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the
spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of
adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth
witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs;
heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer
with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the
sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be
compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation
of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made
subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath
subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself
also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the
glorious liberty of the children of God.
The yoke of bondage can cause you to:
1. Miss your destiny.
God is a God of purpose according to
Psalms 33:11
Psalms 33:11
11 The counsel of the LORD
standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
The word counsel in this verse means plan
or purpose. So God’s plan stand forever. You’re going to be
accountable to God if you don’t fulfill your destiny or the reason
God created you.
Go to Romans
Chapter 6 verse 20. We’re talking about destroying the yoke of
bondage. Being free. You can read the entire chapter 6 and it will
show you your old sinful condition in which you allowed your self to
be put into bondage.
KJV
20 For when ye were the
servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye
then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end
of those things is death.
22 But now being made
free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your
fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin
is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:20-23 (KJV)

Living
20 In those days when
you were slaves of sin you didn't bother much with goodness.
21 And what was the
result? Evidently not good, since you are ashamed now even
to think about those things you used to do, for all of them
end in eternal doom.
22 But now you are free
from the power of sin and are slaves of God, and his
benefits to you include holiness and everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin
is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:20-23 (Living)

You MUST submit
to Christ and make him Lord over your life. He has to control your
life not you!
Don’t get trapped into the yoke of
bondage again.
1. Repent
whenever you sin.
2. Always but
always pray
3. Always ask
God for guidance FIRST in EVERY situation.
4. Always pay
your tithes to prevent curses in your life.
5. Remember
whatever a man sow, that he shall also reap.
6. Stay away
from ungodly things and people.
7. Study you
word DAILY.
8. Come to
church to get fed the word of God. Don’t stay at home and base your
biblical knowledge on just your opinion. Come to church and
fellowship with others.
8. Ask
questions when you study your bible if you don’t understand
something. But ask God first.
9. Speak the
word over your situation, take authority and operate out of love.
When someone cuss you out or cut you off in traffic, operate out of
love and not hate.
10. Make a
prayer strategy. The devil has a strategy against your life,
make a strategy for your destiny and one that will avoid you being
trapped in the yoke of bondage. Make a strategy against the pits of
Hell.
What we’ve learned:
1. The Yoke of
Bondage is something that we put on ourselves.
2. It is designed
(say designed) it’s made to enslave you and misguide. And to rob
you of everything by deceiving you to take your eyes off of God.
3. You have to
remember what condition you were in before you gave your life to
Christ. Remember that you were going to hell which Jesus described
as a furnace of fire: where there shall be
wailing and gnashing of teeth.
4. Remember that Christ made us free as
we saw in Galatians 5:1, so you don’t have to go back into bondage
unless we choose to. His blood is sufficient.
5. You have to stay in prayer fervently
(never stopping) and if you don’t know how to pray, you better seek
God first and ask him to show you how. Then seek counsel from this
ministry.
6. Bookmark Luke 10:19 because it reminds
us that we have power and authority over evil.
7. Stand with Jesus and yoke will began
to fall off. Be a witness for him and stop thinking only of
yourself. Go to heaven and get rewarded instead of having just fire
insurance. Bear fruit!
8. Don’t miss your destiny!

Authorized Version
rendered "yoke" is _motah_, which properly means a "staff,"
or as in the Revised Version, "bar." These words in the Hebrew are
both used
figuratively of severe bondage, or affliction, or subjection (Lev.
26:13; 1
Kings 12:4; Isa. 47:6; Lam. 1:14; 3:27). In the New Testament the
word "yoke"
is also used to denote servitude (Matt. 11:29, 30; Acts 15:10; Gal.
5:1).
of Israel in Egypt (Ex. 2:23, 25; 5), which is called the "house
of bondage"
(13:3; 20:2). This word is used also with reference to the captivity
in Babylon
(Isa. 14:3), and the oppression of the Persian king (Ezra 9:8, 9).
Romans 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law
but under grace.
Galatians 3:1
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey
the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed
among you as crucified? 2 This only I want to learn from you: Did
you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of
faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now
being made perfect by the flesh?
We Are Not Under Bondage But Enjoy Liberty In Jesus Christ
Jesus shed His precious blood for us that we might be freed from the
curse of the law. Churches destroy that liberty by placing members
back under the bondage of unscriptural codes and rules. They deny
the liberty that has been bought and paid for on the cross at
Calvary. We are saved by faith and not by laws or the Ten
Commandments. We are not to live by law at all. Christ has set us
free from the law. We do not use the Ten Commandments as a law of
life. This liberty does not mean we can blatantly break the Ten
Commandments. God forbid. We are called to a higher level to live in
love for one another and walk in the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in
a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same
image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 4:1
Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy,
we do not lose heart. 2 But we have renounced the hidden things of
shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God
deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves
to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 3 But even if our
gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose
minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the
light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God,
should shine on them. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ
Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake. 6
For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who
has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the
glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Galatians 2:4
And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who
came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ
Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage), 5 to whom we did not
yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel
might continue with you.
Galatians 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us
free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
1 Peter 2:15
For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to
silence the ignorance of foolish men-- 16 as free, yet not using
liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
1 Corinthians 7:23
You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
Colossians 2:20
Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the
world, why, as [though] living in the world, do you subject
yourselves to regulations-- 21 "Do not touch, do not taste, do not
handle," 22 which all concern things which perish with the
using--according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 These
things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion,
[false] humility, and neglect of the body, [but] [are] of no value
against the indulgence of the flesh. 3:1 If then you were raised
with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is,
sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above,
not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden
with Christ in God.
Matthew 11:28
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest. 29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am
gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30
"For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they
shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be
weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
Bad counsel from
friends can give you a yoke of bondage. They will lead you in a
directionless manner. Mankind is not even capable of knowing God’s
understanding. No one will ever know because when he created the
world, according to Job 38: 4-7, only the angels know. 4 Where
wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou
hast understanding.
5 Who hath laid the measures
thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
6 Whereupon are the foundations
thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
7 When the morning stars sang
together, and all the sons (angels) of God shouted for joy?
If Job would have
taken his friends’ bad advice, he would have had a yoke around his
neck being steered into the wrong direction. But instead, God
restored him.
Look at
Job 42:1-17
1 Then Job answered the LORD,
and said,
2 I know that thou canst do
every thing, and that no thought can be withholden
from thee.
3 Who is he that hideth
counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I
understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I
will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
5 I have heard of thee by the
hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
6 Wherefore I abhor myself,
and repent in dust and ashes.
7 And it was so, that
after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to
Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against
thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is
right, as my servant Job hath.
8 Therefore take unto you now
seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer
up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray
for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your
folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is
right, like my servant Job.
9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and
Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did
according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.
10 And the LORD turned the
captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave
Job twice as much as he had before.
11 Then came there unto him all
his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his
acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and
they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD
had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and
every one an earring of gold.
12 So the LORD blessed the
latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen
thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of
oxen, and a thousand she asses.
13 He had also seven sons and
three daughters.
14 And he called the name of
the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name
of the third, Kerenhappuch.
15 And in all the land were no
women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father
gave them inheritance among their brethren.
16 After this lived Job an
hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons,
even four generations.
17 So Job died, being
old and full of days.
God had to step in and show Job that Job
was not in control of anything and Job had some friends who was
giving him bad advice. Instead of allowing Job to have a yoke of
bondage, he gave him a way out. Because Job repented and humbled
himself before God, he was restored. The Holy Ghost warns us of the
same thing and we just don’t listen. That’s how we get some of
these yokes of bondage around our necks pulling us into the wrong
direction. Don’t be directionless!
